Former rower wins track cycling bronze

Former rower Caroline Ryan claimed a bronze medal last night in the womens points race at the UCI Track World Championships in Melbourne Australia sprinting home to claim the bronze for Ireland by a solitary point and only missing out on the gold medal by six points.

It was amassive effort by the former rower who also happens to work as a Garda in Kildare having only taken up the sport four years ago.  Making it all the more great for Caroline is the fact that it was Irelands first World Track Championships medal in over 100 years, a proud day to be Irish in my honest opinion!!

The championships don't end with the bronze though as there is still the matter of her specialist event in the individual pursuit this coming Sunday, who knows what could happen then.
